A forest fire destroyed 120 acres of the National park Rila, Bulgaria

          The fire that has overtaken the National park Rila is completely localised. For 3 days hundreds of fire fighters and volunteers have been taking part in dealing with the disaster. Two helicopters were also sent at the scence to assist efforts on the ground. The fire destroyed 100 acres of fields and 20 acres of the forest in the naturee reserve"Rilomanastirska gora". More than 50 flights were performed by the two helicopters of the Ministry of defence . The third helicopter which belonged to the company Helia air was used to transport people to the areas of fire that were hardest to approach. The total of 300 people took part in fire fighting.
